Columns in subreports and reprint group headers on subsequent pages

edited August 2008 in General
Have a report which works fine

Now want to add a subreport ( in the group Footer) .
This sub report (SR1)is basically a bunch of labels for a futher sub report
which is a multi column report (SR2) each column containing the data which
aligns with sr1 labels

all works fine until the Sr2 report has more than 4 colums in it

then get a new page with the data but the Labels on SR1 dont get reprinted

tried moving the the sr1 labels and SR 2 subreport into group header band of
sr1 with reprint header on subsequent pages and mucked around with page
setup in sr2 as it dosent cover the full width of paper as SR1 has a column
of labels in it

so far no joy

Any Ideas Appreciated

regards Ian

    Hi Ian,

When the second subreport breaks to a new page, the first subreport will not
reprint itself as it has already been printed. Is there a reason the column
labels need to be in a separate subreport? One option would be to place
them in the title or group header band located inside the second subreport.

the reason colum labels a in the first subreport as the data needs to be
    displayde vertically
    eg column1 Column2 column3
    title 1 Data1-1 data1-2 data1-3
    title 1 Data1-1 data1-2 data1-3
    title 1 Data1-1 data1-2 data1-3
    title 1 Data1-1 data1-2 data1-3
    title 1 Data1-1 data1-2 data1-3

    Hi Ian,

Thanks for the explaination. From what I can see, it looks like you are
creating a data grid or crosstab of sorts. If you would like to use
subreports, you will need to keep the design to a single subreport if you
wish to see the headers on separate pages. Otherwise you can try using the
crosstab feature built-in with ReportBuilder or a third party crosstab
called GridPack located at the following website.

I'm still unclear why the column of labels needs to be in a separate
subreport. Why couldn't you do without the first subreport, place the
column headers in a group header of the second subreport and the "titles"
next to the data in the detail band?
