Support for InfoPower doesn't work (rbIP1112) (D2009/RB11/IPStudio2009)
Hello, I just installed Delphi 2009, Report Builder 11 and InfoPower Studio
2009.
I have discovered several important errors disallowing migrating my old
project to this new version:
A. It is not possible to integrate InfoPower RTF capabilities to RB11. If
you do this, after reopening form you loose the RTF content.
B. The PDF output ignores Unicode characters except basic ASCII (32..127)
C. Announced TExtraDevices by James Waler is useless. In current stage it
produces PDF output not acceptable by Acrobat Reader. In fact it is just
recompiled ansi version and it doesn't respect new features of D2009. I
wrote him a message about the problem.
Please, get mi know if you plan to correct some of these error (A/B).
I still think your reporting system is one of the best on the market!
Best regards, Igor Gottwald

VCL. The installation was little difficult but it works well (tested for
east european, russion charsets) including RTF field output, but also not
usable for all unicode characters (japanes chars are missing).

The Eastern European and Russian charset differences were added for the PDF
export in the latest version of ReportBuilder. In testing with another
customer I was able to successfully see the alternate characters (Eastern
European) in a RichText document. If possible, please send a small example
I can test here that shows the encoding issues with the built-in PDF device.
Send it in .zip format to support@digital-metaphors.com.
Unicode is not currently supported for PDF export in ReportBuilder. This is
due to the fact that PDF is not designed to handle unicode in an efficient
and easy manner. (Probably why it is not supported by other parties as
well). It is on our to-do list to continue researching this and possible
add it to the product as we move forward.

There is a new RB 11.01 build on the server that includes an updated
ppWWRichEd.pas with a fix. (I think this might be a bug in InfoPower,
because the standard Delphi RichEdit works correctly.)
