ReportBuilder Standard -Trial

edited February 2009 in General
?Greetings,
I am using Delphi 6, with Zeoslib VCL's to access mysql 3.23 database. I
have been using the distributed QuickReport to try and create reports for
the application I am developing. QuickReport Standard is painful. I want
to install ReportBuilder Standard - Trial, so I can see what report
development and output looks like prior to dumping money into a purchase.
I also want to be sure that installing the trial (and possibly removing
later) will not make a mess of my development environment.

any tips greatly appreciated.

    Hello,

    Thank you for considering ReportBuilder!

I first would recommend you download the trial edition of ReportBuilder
Enterprise rather than Standard. Enterprise includes all the features of
Standard as well as other very powerful features such as DADE (giving you
the ability to keep all data access local to the report file), RAP (giving
you the ability to keep all event and report code local to the report file),
and the End-User solution which allows you to easily create and manage
    end-user reporting applications.

If after trying all these features you decide you still don't need them, you
can always still buy the Standard version.

The installation application has been completely re-done for ReportBuilder
11 and now uses the native Windows Installer (MSI) via InstallAware.
InstallAware is also currently used by Borland to install the latest version
of Delphi. Installing the trial edition of ReportBuilder should be very
quick and easy and removing it will leave no trace on your machine.

Once you install, I would suggest spending some time reading the Developer's
Guide located in the (Documents)\Developer's Guide\... directory and running
through the tutorials located in the (Documents)\Tutorials\... directory.
Also check out the recently created rbWiki
(http://www.digital-metaphors.com/rbWiki) which contains a wealth of
information and examples. These resources will give you a fantastic
starting point to make the use of ReportBuilder simple and enjoyable.
