Report Builder email in Excel problem

edited February 2009 in General
?Hi, I am using Report Builder v10.09 with Delphi 7. When a user emails a
report, in the Email screen they can go into Options->Report->Advanced
and a File Type drop-down box will appear. From here they select Excel
Document as the File Type and email the Report as an Excel spreadsheet.

But when they open the excel file, there seems to be lines skipped at
random, so there is data missing from the excel file that appears in the
Report.

I've been playing around a bit with the Line Spacing and Positional Grid
Height fields, which seem to have some effect (sometimes there is even
less data on the spreadsheet at certain times), but I can never seem to
get the excel file to have exactly the same data as the Report. Does
anyone else have this problem? How can I fix this?

Thanks.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I always get an error message when I open
the Excel file : File Error - some data may have been lost.

    Hi Melkor,

ReportBuilder does not natively include an Excel export device. You may
want to contact the third party company you bought this device from directly
and see if they can shed some light on the issue.

Ok, it's probably the Pragnaan components then.

    Thanks anyway though.

    Melkor,

I can confirm that this is the Pragnaan components causing the issues. The
Pragnaan Excel export can be very difficult to tweak to prevent rows from
being lost. And regarding the "some data may have been lost" when opening
the exported files with newer vesions of Excel, I notified Pragnaan of this
issue several times almost a year ago and have received no response from
them indicating that this will ever be fixed.

On another side note, I've just recently converted our application to use
the eDocEngine from Gostice and it appears to work significantly better for
Excel exports. I've not had any problems with dropping rows and there is no
error opening it in newer versions of Excel.
