Accessing Data

edited April 2009 in General
I have a customer that is trying to print one of our reports, but can't
get it to print to their HP 9050 & 8150 printers. They are able to
print it to a HP 4100 printer or to a .pdf file with no problem.

They have updated all the print drivers for these two printers and made
sure the firmware version on the printers were at the latest version.
They are able to print all other reports to these printers.........only
one report is not working.

We tried bypassing the print preview and also in the printer properties
(bypassing the print spooler), but it still wouldn't print. When trying
to print this report, they do see a message saying "Accessing Data".

We are at version 11.01 at the moment.

    Hi Jeff,

What is different about this report than the other reports that do print
successfully? Try periodically removing components to simplify the report
    and maybe isolate the issue.

I also recommend upgrading your version of ReportBuilder to 11.03. For
upgrade instructions, contact info@digital-metaphors.com with your serial
    number.

Most of our troubles with HP drivers have nearly always been a combination
of margins and or paper sizes. Have a look at those settings and compare
them to the same settings for a report that prints normally.

I am not sure if they are, but would printing from a virtual machine
    mess anything up?

Also, I just updated to version 11.03 and ran the same report that
worked for me in version 11.01. Now in 11.03 I am getting an out of
memory error. I can only narrow it down to system.pas and/or
    controls.pas, CreateWnd

We have tried updating the printer drivers and changing the margins on
the printer and they did not fix it. Also, it turns out none of the
reports work that have multiple text files that link to multiple pipelines.

    Any other ideas?

If you change the reports pipelines at runtime, you should upgrade. We had
the same problem, version 11.02 fixed it.
