Vista and D7 Preview Error Message

edited September 2009 in General
Hi,

Just upgraded from XPRO to Vista.
Using latest build of RB.

Creating new reports I am getting error message when previewing the
Report in the IDE

"Cannot Generate Report" "Invalid Image"

Any clues on correcting this ?

Mike Hickman

p.s. I think I am going back to XPro ... not enjoying Vista at all

    Hi Mike,

This is not a known issue. Are you able to run any of the ReportBuilder
Demos included with the product? Are you getting this issue with a certain
type of report or with every report you attempt to create?

    Thanks for reply Nico.

    I can run Demos o.k.

I am attempting to display data from a Firebird database using IBO
connection component and Infopower datasets. This has worked fine with XPro.

I have done some testing. It appears that manually building the Report
by dropping in the Fields at design time, the Report Previews o.k.

However if building from the Report Wizard presents the error message.

Obviously my work around is to build the Report the "hard way".

More testing ... Culprit is a BLOB field. Including the field causes the
error. Pretty sure this did not happen with XPro, but not 100% certain.

Works o.k. if I include Tppdbrichtext component and set the datafield to
    the BLOB field.

    Hi Mike,

I'm a bit unclear about what conditions are needed to recreate this error.

Which version of IBO are you using?

At what point do you receive the error? You mention that the BLOB field is
the cause of the problem but if you use it with a TppDBRichText, it
functions correctly? How do you get it to fail? Are you using DADE or
datasets and pipelines on a form?
