Dynamic columns

Hello!
I was wondering what can we use to implement dynamic columns in a report?
Apart from CrossTabs, which I find quite difficult to handle!
Are you aware of any components out in the market to use, that have made
this task easier?
By dynamic columns, I don't mean using many columns in PageSetup - Layout.
I mean, showing a list of things, for example, per month. If there is data
for all months I want 12 columns. If it's only for 5 months, for example,
then I want 5 columns. And have we any means to autosize the columns' width
to fit the page? (I haven't managed to do this even in Crosstabs!)
I hope I'm giving you enough information!
