Problem with exporting to PDF in RB 9.01

Hello

seems there is any problem with encoding in PDF in RB 9.01. I'm using
Delphi7 and Czech language export (easterneurope_encoding), but not all of
characters are displayed correctly in PDF. All are displayed as in western
code page. Printing is ok, but export to PDF is not correct. For example,
there is problem with char 0xE8 (?), 0xD8 (?), ... and all others.

How to solve this?

Hi Rene,

Is the Czech Language Export a separate add-on for Delphi 7 or are you
simply using the Czech regional setting in Windows? In my testing (with
Czech regional settings) the two characters mentioned below seemed to export
correctly with the PDF device. What is the exact problem with the display
of these characters? Please elaborate about how I might recreate this issue
on my machine.

Hi

I found this. When I use Adobe Reader 6.x, there is problem and eastern
characters are displayed wrong. If i use Reader 7, all is ok. Before RB 9.01
i use RB 7.04 and TExtraDevices 2.80 for export to PDF. All was ok, because
it seems that this devices are embeding fonts to PDF (output file was
large - about 400kB). PDF is version 1.02. When i use standart export to PDF
in RB 9 and DeviceType = dtPDF, file is smaller (about 40 kB), version is
1.03, but i think there are no embeded fonts, so reader is using system
files or something. I'm not skilled with PDF internal things, so maybe i'm
wrong :-).

So maybe you can add options to use embeded fonts in RB 9 in PDFSettings, or
something other. I don't know what can i do to get correct PDF in all
readers.

Hi Rene,

Unfortunately the built in PDF Device that comes with RB 9.01 does not
utilize embedded fonts. I will look into adding this capability for the
next release of ReportBuilder.
