By design, there is only one detail band per report/subreport. This band is printed each time a new record is traversed in the connected dataset. I would suggest spending some time going over the ReportBuilder Developer's Guide located in the \RBuilder\Developer's Guide\ directory. This will give you a good starting point for creating professional style reports.
If you would like to add bands around the detail band, you can use the header and footer bands or perhaps you can use TppRegion components to separate sections of the detail band off.
