Pipelines moving around data page
Hi All,
We are using Report Builder V11.04 with Delphi 2009.
We have many users who have designed there own reports - What is happening
is the data pipeline in the design tab is moving around the page. So you end
up having to scroll around the design page to find the pipeline.
This can take a long time to find as the data tab is huge.
This is starting to happen more frequently and is of real concern.
Any assistance would be really appreciated
Many Thanks
Antony

This is not a known issue. My first suggestion would be to upgrade to RB
11.05 and re-test. If the problem still occurs, please give me the steps I
can take here to recreate the issue in a simple example.

As I was away on a Customer site the email below was placed by Antony, on my
behalf, and I gave him the wrong Report Builder version over the phone.
The correct versions we use are Report Builder v11.05.02 with Delphi 2007.
I downloaded the installation file on 07/07/09.
I cannot offer any way to re create this it just happens on some reports.
It happened to me on a customer site the other day and as we update other
customers, to the latest version of our application (which included
11.05.02), we are getting issues with these customers.
We had no problems with any customer on 11.03 - I did not install 11.04.
In the mean time I have located the lines in the .rtm which seem to control
the pipeline position so at least we can save the report to file and reset
these values.
Is there any reason why the data tab page is so large? As Antony says it is
huge and scrolling around to find the pipeline can take some time.

Philip L Jackson
Looking at the changes made between 11.03 and 11.05, there were none that
would affect the location of the dataviews in DADE. Are the reports with
the problem perhaps older reports saved down in an earlier version of
ReportBuilder?

This still is an issue and I note that this has also been raised by Tom on
21/07/09 in the .general newsgroup under the heading "Problem on Data view
in designer"
He is also using the 11.05.02 version.

I apologize but we are still unable to recreate this behavior on any of our
machines here. In order to track down this issue, we are going to need an
example or steps we can take to consistently recreate the behavior you are
describing. Please send any examples in .zip format to
support@digital-metaphors.com.

FWIW, I use RB pipelines a lot and have never seen anything like this. Also
11.05 D2007.

Have you been able to resolve this issue with support from DM? We are
experiencing the same problem. Just upgraded to 11.06 and use Delphi 7.
Data pipeline is usually located at far bottom of an almost infinite Data
Tab screen. If we preview the report often after making changes or make
design changes, then go to the Data tab to make changes to the data
pipeline, it is usually missing or has been moved on the page where it is
very difficult to find it.
Thought updating to latest version would fix, but did not. You mention that
you can find the lines in the rtm that control the code and reset these
values. How is this done.
Thanks for any and all help!

We have still not been able to successfully recreate this issue on our
machines. If you can send us an example or provide us with the steps we
need to take to consistently recreate this behavior we would be very
grateful. Send any examples in .zip format to
support@digital-metaphors.com.
I believe that the Top and Left properties saved down for the QueryDataView
object in the template/form are the issue. Resetting these values or
removing them seems to solve the problem.
