Loading and running reports written using different DADE's
Hi,
I realise this may be a bit awkward, but I have an end user report solution
using RB 6.03 and ASTA 2.6 and based on a SQL Server dbms, this works well.
However I would also like to support running and creating reports using ADO.
I have built an ADO based solution accessing the same database and data
dictionary but of course any reports written using the ASTA DADE cannot be
executed from the ADO version and vice-versa. Is it possible to amend the
data settings such that a report created using the ASTA DADE could be
amended/executed from an ADO DADE based application?
On a different note I wish to upgrade to RB7 Server edition but I believe
the discounted upgrade price of $799 is only available until the end of
September. I will not be able to upgrade until October, what will the price
of RB7 Server be then and does it include RB7 Enterprise or do I need to
purchase this as well?
Regards
Simon Callcott.

it. This should work because you are using ASTA to connect to the same
database, so the field names and tables names should match up nicely. There
is a technique in the demo link below, which shows how to load a binary
template to ascii text so that you can easily manipulate the text and save
it back down in binary format, all without having to load it into a report
object.

Whats the position on my pricing question for RB7 Server.
Thanks

current upgrade price table and in the special offer upgrade table on our
website.
Right now, when you buy the Server Edition, you get Enterprise for free. We
aren't sure how long this will last, but all estimates indicate that you
will be safe through October.
