RB 17.03 DBImage border not conforming to .picture dimensions

Hello,

We are using Reportbuilder 17.03 build 293. I am using a DBImage object to display image files from paths that are stored in a database.
The image files are much too large to display on the report without scaling them down so I have set MaintainAspectRatio and Stretch to TRUE.

I also need to print a border around the image. Unfortunately it seems that the border conforms to the dimensions of the DBImage object, not the DBImage.picture. I found a forum post that indicated this was changed to the behavior that I am looking for back in RB 10.4, did it revert for some reason?

Is there any way to get the border to follow the size of the stretched image rather than the design-time size of the dbimage in RB 17? I was trying to see if I could get the dimensions of the picture canvas at runtime and change the size of the dbimage but I have not been able to find documentation on the properties of the dbimage.picture.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Tom

  • Hi Tom,

In my quick testing with the latest version of ReportBuilder I was not able to recreate this issue. It is likely something that was addressed for a later version.

I suggest downloading a trial copy of the latest version and testing with that. If you are still getting the issue, please send a simple example to support@digital-metaphors.com so we can research a solution.

  • Hi Nico,

    Thanks for the quick response.

It appears that you fixed this behavior way back in version 10.4 according to this forum post: http://www.digital-metaphors.com/forums/discussion/5261/borders-on-dbimages which implies that it regressed sometime between 10.4 and 17.3. If you can look at your versioning system or something and confirm that, it would be greatly appreciated.

Since we only upgraded to 17 and went through the process of integrating it into our code base 1-1.5 years ago we don't really have time to deal with another upgrade right now.

    Best,

  • Hi Tom,

According to our records, your software subscription is up to date and updating to RB 19 is included. Please update to RB 19 and retest your application. We are unable to provide updates or solutions for older versions of ReportBuilder.

If the problem still exists in RB 19, we will research and fix it as soon as possible.
