Form Length Issues
Hello All:
We are trying to get around the length limitation set by windows printer
drivers. The problem is especially large in WIndows 2000.
We have tried using the text driver with 1/6 inch increments - we have
not succeeded. For instance, on an Okidata 321, we tried to print a 32 inch
report. The call to ppReport1.Print causes ReportBuilder sets the custom
paper length to over 2000 inches long and the printer only prints the first
11 inches ( this was on RB 3.52 - we have not tried 5 yet ).
Could we break up single report into 2 or 3 reports of 14 inches ???
If we tried this, how can we stop the printer from advancing the paper
out of the printer at the end of each 14 inch report ???
Any other ideas would be appreciated. Thank you.

FYI we seem to have conquered the length issue with windows as follows:
When a long form is fed into windows, it will not be ejected from the
printer after printing is done IF there is length left on that form. This
seems to be a common printer design characteristic.
Therefore, one can chain multiple reports together to simulate one
continuous form and thereby get around the form length limit. We took a
printer driver with an 18 inch max length and were able to print a 42 inch
report by chaining 3 reports together with a 16 inch length papersize per
report. Our tests were conducted in Windows 2000 using both Okidata and
Epson printers and printer drivers with a Maximum length of 22 inches.
We will perform more tests next week on other types of printers, but
this seems to be an effective method of printing beyond a printer drivers
maximum form length.
Any comments or insight would be appreciated.
