group footer - sum of variable

Is there a slick way to have a group footer print the sum of a detail band
field which is a "variable" type? I could do my own accumulation during
each calculation, but wanted to know if there was a better way.

In the OnCalc event of the detail band variable, where you are performing
the calculation, just increment the group footer band variable. That is the
way to go.
