Join dialog
We are implementing dialog level help and are having a torrid time
explaining the join dialog due to its weird layout. Let me use an example to
illustrate:
We have Suppliers and Reps. We want a list of all suppliers and their reps.
As we want to include suppliers who don't have any reps we must use an outer
join. The tables tab looks like:
Table Join type
Suppliers
Reps Left outer
All seems fine we want Suppliers left outer join Reps. The join table dialog
seems to imply something else. The join type is left outer (which is ok) but
on the Join with dropdown you get Join table Reps with Suppliers. This
implies Reps left join Suppliers which is incorrect.
The fields list box extends this (incorrect) implication by having Reps on
the left and Suppliers on the right.
All this makes help writing very difficult. In the next update would you
consider the following:
1) Consider the higher table in the tables list as the primary table
(Suppliers).
2) Set the Join with dropdown as the non-primary table (Reps)
3) List the Primary table's field in the left listbox.
This will make the join dialog almost self explanatory and thus much more
user friendly.
Thanks
