New items on report not visible

edited January 2002 in General
I have encountered an unusual situation. I have an existing report on a
form. I made a copy of that report (on the same form, using Ctrl-C and
Ctrl-V), and modified the new copy slightly to create a 'Summary' version of
the report. When I try to add a field to the original report, it is not
visible. For instance, I tried to add a 'Count' variable into a group
footer of the original report, and it looks fine in the designer, but when I
print the report the new field is visible. This behavior will also affect
Excel output in the sense that the 'dummy' fields I insert (a label
containing a single space, so totals fields line up in the right columns),
the dummy fields will not affect the XL output, causing columns to line up
incorrectly. Just for kicks I tried putting text into the 'dummy' fields,
and that did not show up either. Is there some default behavior build into
Report Builder that prevents a report from being changed after it has been
copied?

Thanks in advance.

Additional info: I removed the other (copied) report from the form, and the
behavior is still there (new report objects do not show up). I also tried
saving the report to rtm, deleting it, and replacing it with a fresh report
object then restoring from rtm, and I still could not add objects to the
report and have them visible at print time.

We don't have anything built which is intended to do this:) It sounds as if
the new components are not getting assigned to the report correctly. Maybe
it is getting assigned to the band of the other report?

I tried reproducing this in D6 RB 6.03, but it seems to be working
correctly- The new components that are added to the copied report object on
the form, show up at, both at design time and at runtime, when I preview
    them.

Is there an exact sequence of steps I can take to get this behavior?
Please, send an example report, which if copied, will give this behavior:

What version of Delphi & RB are you using?
