CrossTabs repeating

edited February 2002 in General
I've looked through the Crosstabs demos, and can't see any setup
differences between what I am doing and the demos.

My crosstab reports always repeat within the detail band. Thus, on the
first page, I may have 3 or 4 identical, complete crosstab tables.

Any hints?

Thanks,

John

This is a FAQ in this NG. Jim Bennett answered it recently (December 10th).
    His answer is below:

Disconnect the report form the datapipeline. Then reconnect the crosstab to
the datpipeine. The detail band will print for every record in the
datapipeline that the report is connected to. The crosstab will print once
per detail band traversal, which is why you get this behavior. You will
want only one detail band to print:)

Jan, Thanks. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to search for it!!!
I disconnected the report from the datapipeline, but don't see a way to
reconnect the crosstab itself to the pipeline.

I'll dig back to his messages...

    Thanks again,

    John

    Jan,

Sorrry, never mind. I see it now...the crosstab has a component datapipline
selector independent of the report datapipeline selector. However, I noticed,
that once the report's datapipeline has been deselected, you must go off of and
back on the crosstab's datapipeline selector in order for it to "stick".

    Thanks again,

    John

Yes, and you should also notice that when you swap a datapipeline on the
report, it should automatically reconnect the datapipeline connections to
all of the data aware controls.
