Compatibility between R5.5 and R6.x formats??

edited February 2002 in General
hi,
I have a situation where I ideally would like to have RB5.5 and RB6.02 on my
machine. But the components will conflict so this is not possible (right??)

Now I'm wondering If I can get away with using RB6 and maybe the stream
format of the Reports will be the same between the two versions.

I'm skeptical. So the question is
[a] What do I do in this situation? (no don't say buy another machine
please)
[b] are the formats between versions the same??

thanks for your suggestions and help in advance,
sincerely,
John Scalco

Do you have an older version of Delphi installed? You can install Delphi 4
and D5, or D5 and D6. Then for your latest version of Delphi, you could
install RB 6.03, and in the older install of Delphi, say, Delphi 4, you can
install RB 5.5. You may run into problems if you try to open a report in
5.5 , if it was saved in 6.03 format. RB is not backwards compatible.
