PS vs PCL

edited March 2002 in General
My application has several reports with check box to represent the value of
a boolean field in a database. On all printers capable to postscript
drivers the reports look fine. On some HP printers using PCL(no other
option from printer manufacturer also we have the most current drivers for
these printers) the unchecked box appears as a lower case 'o' and the
checked box appears as a lower case 'o' with a lower case 'l' through it.
The print preview display is correctly. We have tried going to HP and
Microsoft for new drivers etc. with no success. Can you give me any
direction on how to correct this problem?

Thanks

Ray

The check box is a wingdings font. If you go into Word, and I think it is
under Wingdings2 and type the letter R, you should get the checked checkbox.
Does this print on the PCL printer? If not, then unfotunately it is a
limitation of the printer driver. Your alternative is to create your own
custom checkbox component that uses lines, or an image to draw the check
    box.
