Though we see great potential in the Linux theater, we must make our decisions based on business realities. Therefore, we currently have no plans to develop a Kylix version. We will certainly make an announcement if this situation changes.
I understand it's tough to justify porting the whole product to Linux, but what about a set of non-visual server side components for Kylix?
I am thinking of a case where the visual end of report design would still in Windows, but a RP engine could be deployed in the middle tier of an n-tier app, or in a cgi/dso under Linux. That would definitely be a value add for me.
Yes, I agree that(business realities). We have no current blans neither, but most likely 2003 we must really consider linux platforms on our business that is pos(receipts), becouse it's freenes is very atractive to our customers. I don't think that linux will come to desktops in couple of years but in these special solutions like pos you could use it allready.
Remember that desktop solutions are not only one's that printout.
