Strange probelm with detail band

edited March 2002 in General
HI,

I have a problem which I cant seem to find a work around for.

I have two tables in a master-detail relationship.
Lets call them table A (master) and table B (detail).

Now table B doesnt always have data in it depending on which record we are
looking at in table A.

I have the master pipeline set up as the table A datasource.

In the detail band I have the data from table displayed.
The detailband itself is about 2 inces deep, it has quite a lot of
datafields in it laid out both side to side and up and down i.e.

Address Postcode
Value Percentage Alteration

Then I have put a sub-report at the bottom of it that brings up the detail
records if it has any. Ok that works fine.

My problem it that my detail information is getting split up onto two pages
sometimes. Imagine in the above example the address and postcode might
appear at the bottom of one page but the value, percantage and alteration
might appear at the top of the next page because it has run out of space.

There is no 'keep together' function for the detail band but I have found if
I change the height from dynamic to static, its stops this happening. Then
we get another problem. The subreport will not show at all.

It makes for difficult reading of the report.

I am missing something?

    Hi Andy,

Place the detail components on a region, which has the 'keep together'
    funtionality.

    That worked great, thanks.
