Two subreports, side-by-side, need to shiftRelativeTo the longest one

I have a report with two sub-reports that start at the same place on the
page. Each is variable length, and might actually continue for several
pages. After the longer subreport completes I need to print some more text.

How do I tell the final text section to shift relative to the longer of my
two sub reports?

try putting the 2 subreports in a region.
