"poor" printing environments

edited May 2002 in General
Are there well-known "poor" printing environments? My report
prints perfectly on everything i could get my hands on, but
several users showed prints where either the right margin is
cut significantly (seems to happen with HP ink jet printers)
or certain colors like "clSilver" and "clGray" dont print.

Esp. "clSilver" never prints correctly on HP ink jets. It
prints white on on-color models and black on color models.
The funny thing is that all users say that other software
has no problems with printing.

Are there known things to avoid to be compatible with most
printers/OS'es?

We ran various tests of clSilver and clGray lines and shapes on an HP
DeskJey 970 and an HP LaserJet 5 with proper results on both. Specifically
on what OS(s) and Printer(s) are you having problems? The first this for you
to do is to make sure that the laters printer driver is installed on the
user's machine for the appropriate printer.

So far i could confirm that all reports of missing colors
were indeed an issue of not using the right printer driver.

Many customers had installed a HP color ink jet but did not
    use the exact pinter drivers.

On problem of not printing colors could be confirmed as a
    problem with Windows2000.

I am still looking for a solution that on some systems the
edges get cut (usually the right side of the print). Maybe
i can resolve these problems by setting paper format and
bin by the correct values for the choosen printer. I used
your example 121 to retrieve the printer settings.
