Need Help with Query Wizard

edited June 2002 in General
I have installed Report Builder Enterprise and have been through the demos.
I have set up the data dictionary, linkages etc. and when I go to do a
report when I get to the Query Wizard and the screen "limit the rows
returned" ... I click "define the search criteria" and when I right click
in the white space and click on the "field" combobox no fields are
displayed. In other words I can't limit the rows to be displayed. Also, I
can't change the SQL code that is generated ... is this how RB is supposed
to work? any help would be greatly appreciated ... thnak,s LL

    Hi Lon,

    what database are you using?

It works in our tests here. Do you have any fields selected (first page of
    the wizard?

You should be able to choose Edit SQL as Text from the SQL tab of the query
    designer.

    Which database are you using?

Which version of RB are you using? 6.03 is the latest version available.

If you disconnect the data dictionary does it begin working?

Can you send us the paradox tables which don't work to
    support@digital-metaphors.com and we'll test it.

To test your ReportBuilder installation, can you successfully create reports
    from the DBDemos sample database?

It seems that I had to set AutoSearch=T for every field in the rbField table
... now it works correctly ... the generate procedure set them all to F ...
is that how it is supposed to work? thanks, LL

The autosearch setting should have no effect on wether or not you can create
search criteria in the query tools. The DataDictionary Builder does set the
autosearch field of the fields to false as the default value. This is
correct. The query wizard should work with this set to false. It works in
    our tests here.

I suggested disconnecting the data dictionary to see what data was coming
through from the fields created from the query tools without the data
dictionary. This is always the first step in trying to figure out why the
query tools aren't showing any data.
