Help needed for evaluation

edited June 2002 in General
Hello,

our company is currently evaluating ReportBuilder for an upcoming
project with one of german's biggest telco companies.

So, I'm asking you to answer this small feature list.

If you can, reply y = yes or n = no, if funtionality is available.

E.g.:

- Report development is comparable to MS Access?
y

=> which means Reportbuilder does have this feature.

Thank you very much in advance!

Regards,

Most, if not all, of the below are either directly or indirectly supported.
RB is 100% Object Pascal which means you have access to most of the source.
That means that if something isn't directly supported, the likelyhood is
that it can still be accomplished. Trial versions of RB are available from
the website. Please also download Learning ReportBuilder as it will give you
a more thourough introduction to RB.

Yes, in RB Pro and up.

    Yes, banded style report creation.

Yes, RB is 100% object pascal, thus can be compiled into the Delphi
    application.

Yes. In fact there are multiple ways of doing that, including reports on a
    form,
templates, archives. The upcoming server edition will allow report
    distribution over the web or
    to a thin client app.

    Yes, using the crosstab component.

    RB supports the TeeChart component.

Yes. Check out RBAddOn component which contains a calendar component for RB.

Yes. Grouping on data and custom components.

    Yes .

    Yes.

Third party devices, namely ones from Waler and Pragnaan, support, at least,
    Excel, Word, PDF, HTML.
    See http://www.pragnaan.com and http://www.waler.com

Yes. Either comma delimited or report emulation text.

    Can be accomplished.

    Yes.

As earlier, third party devices available to support this.

Can be accomplished using third party devices as mentioned above.

Not natively, but should be possible.

    Same as above.

    Save as above.

    > > - Aggregation (+what aggregation features are available?)

Sorry, missed this one. I assume you are referring to aggregate functions on
the data? This could be accomplished with the end user dataview designer,
DADE, which allows you to define queries which could include aggregate
functions. Please let me know if I'm misunderstanding this question.
