Need help with DBISAM

edited June 2002 in General
Does anyone have a sample of how to set up the data dictionary with DBISAM?
I was led to believe that RB supported DBISAM ... thanks, LL

You need RB pro or Enterprise
You need some interface code such as daDBISAM.pas available
    from my site.
    http://www.welshdragoncomputing.ca/Business/linksbusiness.htm

    or the equivalent available elsewhere.

Note: there is a minor glitch in the daDBISAM.pas file that requires
the database component and the databasename to be the same.
    I use 'db' both.

I found the demo for DBISAM but it tells me that the session DBISAMSession
cannot be found ... do I have to configure something within RBuilder to have
the app work with DBISAM? thanks, LL

    Lon,
Sorry... don't know about the demo altho' I did at one point.

I'll have to put together a demo on the site.... don't know
whether I can get to it this weekend... it's a holiday
    weekend up in .ca land.

You have to, at the very least, install daDBISAM.pas in the
IDE and also include it in your project.

    Lon,
Please use the NG for replies rather than private e-mail.

    One way to install daDBISAM.pas
    1. Click Component on main menu
    2. Click Install Packages
    3. Select "Borland User Components"
    4. Click edit and click Yes
    5. Click Add and select daDBISAM.pas etc
    6. Click compile etc

The installed DBISAM demo should work. I am running DBISAM 3.10 with the
latest daDBISAM DADE plugin from Jon's website. The data dictionary works
fine in our tests here. The RB installed daDBISAM you have in your
RBuilder\Demos\Enduser Databases\DBISAM directory is for an older version of
DBISAM. Once you get the design time package rebuilt as Jon suggests, then
it should begin working. Let us know if it doesn't.
