Preview = OK, Printing = page width chopped
To start with, let me say that I now realize that you guys at RB are
being UNFAIRLY blammed for a lot of problems with print drivers.
I cleaned out my RB installation according to the instructions in this
ng, then I cleaned out my actual printer driver _manually_ according
to support.microsoft.com knowledge base article # 135406
I then downloaded the latest HP LJ 4 driver from www.hp.com
Result: For the last two days I have been "access violation" free.
My reports generate and preview correctly. Thanks to the help I
recieved from DM crew on this ng.
Now for the big "however", even though my preview is completely
normal, (full width header and footer, newspaper columns in detail)
now, when I print, the text of the page is all 'truncated' at the 4
and a half inch width point.
I'm using newspaper columns (2) in the detail section of the report,
but with a header and footer that should print full 8 inches wide.
When printing (not previewing) the whole report is being made the
width of the left newspaper column.
Any help would be appreciated.

and it previewed and printed correctly on our HP LJ 5. Please send us a
simple example report project that shows the problem using DBDemos database
for data. Send it to support@digital-metaphors.com

I used a letter sized piece of paper to feed into the printer and it printed
the columns correctly, using your 5 x 8 setting. It did chop the header and
footer text as they are maually trimmed because the label widths are 7.4
inches. This width is too small to fit the actual text as you have designed
it.

Ok. What about HPLJ4 using the printer driver I sent you? My
customer has a large number ( in the low hundreds ) of HPLJ4 printers
so I can't tell him to print on HPLJ5.
Understood. I wasn't concerned about that, I just threw in some dummy
text and yes it was a bit too wide. I'm talking about the entire text
of all header, colums (only the left one prints) and footer being
chopped at the 4 inch wide point, not the 7.4 inch point.
???
I downloaded the latest and they are the same, dated 1.10.2000 from hp.com
for the LJ 4.
Make sure you are using RB 7.02 as this may have been an issue in an older
version we were not aware of.
