RB 6.01/D5 Invalid Template Format
Hello All:
We load our reports from an rtm file. The same exe and reports are used
at many customer sites.
We have one customer with a problem. Any new reports that we add produce
an "Invalid Template Format". However, these same reports ( and same program
file ) work correctly at other sites.
What can I do to figure out what is happening at this particular store
??? Could some kind of virus issue be causing this ???
Thank you.

when you are trying to load it as binary? Is this the case? If you are
saving templates as ascii text files, then make sure that your user doesn't
open them and edit them. Have them create a new template to file (if they
have a designer at runtime) and open it. Does that work? Try deploying a
simple binary and an ascii template and see which can be opened. Even if you
have mismatched versions of RB, the template would load, but you would get
invalid propery errors.

The customer has no ability to change the rtm files. The only way we
could have this problem is if they are getting messed up in the deployment
process.
We use ftp to deploy the files via an automated mechanism. This
mechanism is working everywhere else.
The rtm file in question runs every where else. However, when any "NEW"
rtm is deployed on their network, the new rtm gets an invalid template
format.
I have tried replacing the exe, the rtm, etc. no luck. Any more ideas
???

template on their side as a test, to take the deployment code out of the
equation. Then you can see if they can create an rtm and then open it. I
guess it could be some kind of virus getting attached to the rtm or
corrupting it. Have they run McAffee or Norton antivirus on thier network?

Problem solved. The issue was not in ReportBuilder. The rtm file was
being downloaded as a size 0 file due to a bug in our ftp client program.
We upgraded their ftp client and now everything is fine.
Thank you for your help.
