I need to be able to use RB 5.5 with Delphi 6. Could you please point me in the right direction? Due to financial constraints we cannot buy the latest version. Your help would be appreciated.
RB 5.5 does not support Delphi 6. You'll have to upgrade to RB 7 to get native D6 (as well as D5 and D7) support. Instead of recompiling RB, we want you to spend your time building the reports you need and get your app shipped on time. The fastest and cheapest way to get there is to upgrade to RB 7.
Why is it cheaper to upgrade? It is true that you may be able to rebuild and reinstall RB 5 to work in Delphi 6, but the time you spend trying to get this to work will be much more expensive (unless you work for free) than upgrading to RB 7. Bear in mind that we cannot provide technical support for your version of RB 5.5 for Delphi 6. It is also going to be up to you to maintain your custom version of RB, because at the minimum you will have to reinstall our packages manually if you get a new machine or have to reinstall Delphi 6 for some reason, let alone any new bugs you may introduce by modifying our code to get it to work. Technically, the new-for-D6 Object Treeview is going to cause you problems which we have already solved and have included in the latest release.
