AV in RB 7.02 Standard Wizard

edited July 2003 in General
RB 7.02, Delphi 6 (SP2), Windows 2000 (sp3)

I have a developer who is new to RB and was creating a report
using the wizard. He dropped a report component onto a form with a
JITpipelin and then double-clicked into design mode
and used the File-New-Report Wizard to step through setting up
his report. On pressing Finish he received an

AV at address 00279EBC in designide60.bpl read of address 0000000

The exact same error can be achieved by dropping a report component
onto a blank form, going into design mode and using File-New-Report.
This way the error is immediate.

I have 2 other developers using an identical setup and I can reproduce
the error on all their machines.

I use RB 7.02 Professional, Delphi 6 (sp2), Windows XP and do not
get the same error.

When working with RB normally or using projects which are already
created no problems occur.

We are using the latest download of RB 7.02.

Is this something in the way their Delphi/RB setup is configured
or am I missing something easy.

Any help would be appreciated.

(obviously telling them not to use the wizard works but it would be
useful for the newer developer !)

Thanks

Dave

    Dave,

I am unable to reproduce the error as well. Check to see that your
developers are using the latest printer driver available. You may also want
to try downloading a copy of the printer driver for a HP LaserJet 4, install
that and set it as your default printer. This driver has been successfully
tested with ReportBuilder and should give you a correct screen output.

We've installed a HP Laserjet 4 with the latest drivers
and this has made no difference to this problem. I've also
had one of the developer uninstall RB and re-install and he gets
    the same error.

    Dave,

I have tried creating the error on my machine using the same specs you
described earlier: RB 7.02, Delphi 6, and Windows 2K, but have still been
unable to reproduce the problem. Please send a small example demonstrating
the problem to support@digital-metaphors.com and we'll have a closer look.
