how do i adjust dbtext fields dynamically? (RB v. 6.03)

yes, I know this has been asked before, but my problem seems to be a little
different (or maybe I AM the problem
)
To explain it, this is how it looks in my subreport (detailband):
dbtext1 dbtext2 dbtext3 dbtext4
dbtext5
These 5 dbtext fields belong together. If dbtext5 is empty, I would like to
get the next row printed without any blank space in between. I`ve already
tried it with Regions... but that doesn`t seem to work in this case...

it should work with regions, i do it all the time
now first make sure the detailband is set tot dynamicheight
put the dbtext5 in a region, in the onprint event of the region just look at
the contents of the text5 and turn the visible property of the region on or
off
