Stretch With Parent

I have a simple report with a region in the
detail band with stretch. I put a vertical
line in the region with parent height and
stretch with parent. I put a dbmemo in the
region with stretch. Preview and the vertical
line stretches as it should. If I put a dbtext
component underneath the memo with shift with
parent, then the region stretches but the
vertical line doesn't. Is there an easy way
around this? (I need a report that looks like
a grid with variable height rows but has lots
of columns). Thanks.
