I have been using report builder 6 for a while, but today i recieved an error when trying to place a label or dblabel on a report. The error states "Canvas does not allow drawing". Has anyone got any ideas on what is happening here?
The exception 'Canvas does not allow drawing' occurs when RB cannont access the printer. Typically this is thrown when there is not a default printer installed. However, if you are running as a service, this may mean that the service might not have the same security rights as the current user. This would also cause a problem.
In order to deal with these issues, we enhanced RB 6.0+ so you can set the printer name to 'Screen' and then ReportBuilder does not need access to an actual print driver. My advice is to consider upgrading to our latest version of ReportBuilder, version 7.03.
