Sub Report Question

edited August 2003 in General
Sorry to be bothersome on the newsgroup. I'm trying to understand how things
work. The next question is about sub reports. I have a lot of data in the
datapipeline connected to the ppReport component. Is there a way to include
additional fields in a sub report from the main pipeline? The problem I've
experienced when setting the pipeline the same as the ppReport pipeline is
it indeed like a sub report and each record is shown for the additional
fields then the next record is shown in the detail of the report

Desired results would have the customer from the detail band of the ppReport
and the other fields Field 1-Field 3 would be on a sub report.

Thanks again

    Hi Gary,

If you are only using one dataset, you do should not need to connect the
subreport to a pipeline. The only time you need to connect a subreport to a
datapipeline is when you have two datasets linked in some way, perhaps in a
Master-Detail relationship. You can access the main report's datapipeline
from a subreport without connecting it. Simply use the datapipeline
pulldown box at the top left of the designer to select the pipeline and then
use the field pulldown box next to it. Here is a small example of how this
    works.
