DBTexts not rendered on some computers
Hi,
We use RB Enterprise 7.02, compiled in D7 (web app) and D5 (Win32 App).
One of our endusers have designed a report, and they were complaining that
in some environments, only the Header/footer of the report would show.
I tracked it down to beeing:
- DBTexts set up with Word-wrap, in combination with Arial 10 font, and the
labels had the default height.
It works fine on the computer where it was designed, but not all.
It seems that on some Windows installations (All beeing W2K), the Arial 10
font are a bit higher than on other computers, and thus the DBTexts are not
rendered.
It worked if I did one of the following:
- Stretched the labels in height.
- Switched off word-wrap
- Changed font.
I'm not sure if this is something that should be changed in RB, just thought
I'd share the info.
Best Regards,

It seems to happen mostly when the printer is an HP.
I tried diligently to recreate this issue without success. I created a
report on my XP machine, then moved it to my 2K machine and previewed the
template (loading it in code) but could still see all the DBTexts with
WordWrap enabled. As a test try setting AutoSearch to True and see if that
helps. If possible, please send an example .rtm file that shows this
behavior and I'll test with that.

Please find attached a very small example showing the behaviour.
- On my Win2K computer both labels in this example shows.
- On another Win2K computer in our office, only the left one shows.
I'm running the same compile of the executable.
BTW: This is appearing in the Print Preview. (and in pdf output). I haven't
tested actual printouts.
My PC: Win2K Professional (5.00.2195) SP 3. Norwegian locale.
- Arial font : Version 2.76
- Default printer : OKI C5300(PS)
Other PC: Win2K Professional (5.00.2195) SP 3 Norwegian locale.
-Arial font : Version 2.76
- Default printer : Epson Stylus Color 850

I downloaded the Epson Stylus Color 850 driver, set it as my default printer
and was able to recreate the issue. This leads me to believe that it is a
printer driver issue. I switched back to using my HP LaserJet 5 and both
labels printed correctly. I would suggest contacting Epson or OKI and
seeing if they have heard of any issues like this in the past.

Thanks, the thing is I recived this as an error message from our end users.
They are a big global company, and I think there is no way their web-server
is set up with Epson Stylus as the default printer. I'll check with them
what printers they have.
Ok, anyway, we know how to make a workaround so I guess that will do.

Paul
I'll research our API calls some when I get a chance and see if I can
perhaps find a solution for this issue. I'll let you know as soon as I get
something.
