Report Template units "Screen Pixels"
I wanted to find out if anyone has some knowledge or experience in the field
with the units that are selected for a report.
How does the selected units affect the output?
I am creating a large set of report template designes that I am going to
allow my customers, who are world wide, to view, edit, print, whatever. I
wanted to select a generic unit of measurement that would be universal. I
thought screen pixels would work. Inches seems too US centric, metric is
better, but I was wondering if it really mattered.

The problem with using screen pixels is that when printing, you loose some
precision due to the fact that that your screen is probably set to 96 pixels
per inch and your printer at a minimum is set to 300 dots per inch. All
report measurements in ReportBuilder are converted to microns, processed,
then converted back to the device specific units to ensure the highest
precision when rendering. If you use screen pixels as your default
measurement you are loosing some report space and precision because you
can't very well place an object at 300.5 screen pixels. I would recommend
using inches or millimeters to give your users the most options in component
positioning.
