Choose a Laser Printer for Printing Checks

edited December 2003 in General
Hi all,

Our company's Fujisu dot maxtrix printer is primary for printing
checks. But now it is starting to malfunction. So we are looking for a
replacement.

For the new printer we wish to use HP range laser printer product for
their reliability and service. HP sales person recommend the Laserjet 2300.

Of course for printing checks, the primay concern is not to choose one
that will have a lot of paper feeding problems (e.g. Paper jam). So, I
wonder does anyone have experience on this printer or recommend a better one
to handle this task.

Any comment would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Michael

    Hi Michael.
Unfortunatelly I wouldn't like to recommend You HP printers because of the
troubles they are getting. In my company we have 3 HP LaserJets, (2100, 2200
and 4600). 2100 and 2200 have more and more problems like after printing 1
hour, they stop and You must wait 2-3 hours or so to cool down, remove dust
etc. Both have around 80000 pages printed.
Next problem Is the thickness of paper. It must be at least 80grams/m2 or
You'll tear every paper You put it into.
The next problem (althogh not seen withe these printers) is standard HP
problem of feeding more than 1 paper. Okay, it hapens here also but rarely.
But all little printers (5L, 6L, 1100, 1200, 1000W...) are prone to this
    problem.
But at least there is no problem with supplies, so this is a real plus and
the next plus is easiness of installation and getting the driver.
Currently I can't recommend any printer, because I largely see small office
printers (also deskjets etc) and usually they are HP's. But it may be, that
a Lexmark, Epson or even Brother will work also nicely. So again, I can't
recommend YOu any printer right now but I wanted to share You my experience
    with HP printers.

    Best regards,
    Goran
