ReportBuilder is a Delphi add-on component sold to Delphi developers. It is not a stand-alone application. From Delphi it is possible to create a stand alone end-user reporting application that can be executed separate from the IDE, but as an initial product, ReportBuilder is generally meant to be used as a developer's tool.
If you would like more information on how to utilize ReportBuilder for your specific needs, please see the ReportBuilder Developer's guide located in the \RBuilder\Developer's Guide\... directory
I am confused. As from the PDF file downloaded like RBuilder.pdf, there are tutorials on how to create reports. For example, on page 4 of the RBuilder.pdf.
Yes, it is possible to design a report in this fassion but you can only access this designer from the Delphi IDE or through an end-user application created with Delphi and the ReportBuilder components. If you would like to start designing a report please follow these simple steps...
1. Open the Delphi IDE. 2. Select the RBuilder tab from the Delphi Pallet at the top. 3. Place a Report (TppReport) object on a form. 4. Double click on the report object.
Please see the following article for more information.
Learning ReportBuilder is a complete learning system designed to teach end users how to build a range of reports. This system includes a 125-page PDF file, a stand-alone application complete with a database, and a help file. The PDF file is comprised of a series of tutorials that step end users through the process of building reports as simple as a table listing and as complex as crosstabs. The tutorials also introduce conceptual aspects of report building along the way. The application is used in conjunction with the tutorials so that the learning experience is interactive. The end user just prints out the PDF file, runs the application, and learns ReportBuilder. The help file is accessible from the application, so all three tools work together to provide a seamless learning environment.
Learning ReportBuilder installs into C:\Program Files\LearnReportBuilder. When the system has successfully installed, a complete set of instructions appears in the form of a 'ReadMe' doc, so the end user knows just what to do upon installation.
The documentation requires Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is also available for download:
