RB 7.03: When a report was saved to database by delphi 6 and loaded in Delphi 5

edited January 2004 in General
Repor Builder Version: Professional 7.03
When a Report template was saved to database by delphi and loaded by Delpi
5.

Error Message in Delphi 5: EreadError: Invalid property value.
EreadError: Error reading
"Tpplabel.caption.Invalid property value"

Both delphi versions (5 and 6) are using repor builder 7.03 professional.

Can there be a way where a saved report in delphi 6 can be opened by delphi
5 ?, considering both tools are using report builder 7.03.

Thanks..

    Hi,

For the most part, this should work correctly, although we have seen
differences in the past with the way Delphi 6 and Delphi 5 streaming works,
especially with strings. This is unfortunately a limitation of how
ReportBuilder can be used as the streaming code between RB for D5 and RB for
    D6 is exactly the same.

What do u mean ?, are they exactly the same or a limitation ?. If it's a
    limitation, any wrap around ?..

We definitely need to share a saved report in the database to two
applications compiled in D6 and D5 considering both applications are using
    Report Builder 7.03.

    Thanks..

    Hello,

I'm sorry, my wording was wrong. The code that handles the streaming of
templates in ReportBuilder is the same for all 3 versions. (ie. RB for
Delphi 5, 6, and 7). The only difference is the version of Delphi you are
using and this is where the limitation is.

What type of database/connection are you using? Are you able to reproduce
the issue using one of our End-User Database application demos? If so, let
me know and I can research this issue further.
