RB 6.03 to RB 7

edited April 2004 in General
Currently we are using Delphi 5 with RB 6.03 enterprise. We are thinking
about passing to Delphi 7 and RB 7...
Which are the changes involved in RB6 to RB7?
Should we change all *.rtm files?
Any important changes concerning properties, or something I Should know?

Thanks

    Hi Daniel,

The change should be rather painless because RB 7 will convert all your .rtm
files automatically once you load and save them for the first time. Before
updating to the new version, be sure to back up all your old report
templates. Then load each template using RB 7.03 and save them back down
before running an application that uses them. This way you can be sure the
    conversion process was successful.

Thank, but what happens to our user's rtm's? They usually open them to
print the report, but not to modify them... Will it work?
Besides, we use templates in database. Is that a problem?
    Thank you very much

    Hi Daniel,

Yes, the reports should work correctly if they are just opened from a
template on a database. You should have your users re-save their templates
back to the database once they have been opened successfully. This will
increase the efficiency as ReportBuilder will not have to convert the
templates to work with RB 7 every time they are loaded.
