Thanks for your interest in ReportBuilder for .NET
We are continuing to work on Delphi VCL.NET compatibility. ReportBuilder is large and complex product. Delphi 8 is proving to be a challenge - it is buggy, it is slow, the debugger does not work very well. The VCL.NET platform is also buggy and slow.
Borland is working hard to address these issues and will release Delphi 9 in the fourth quarter of this year.
Due to these developments, we are now looking to Delphi 9 as the platform to support an initial release of ReportBuilder for VCL.NET.
2. D9 support
Delphi 9 will include support for building Win32 and .Net applications. Digital Metaphors is working on a new ReportBuilder Win32 version with many new features. As mentioned above, we continue to work on VCL.Net compatibility as well.
3. WinForms
We do not have a pure FCL version of RB available at this time. That is a longer term goal. You can call reports that reside on a VCL datamodule or form from a WinForm. For VCL Win32 this can be done via COM, for VCL.Net you can do this directly.
4. ASP.Net
The current release of ReportBuilder Server Edition supports ASP by enabling you to easily build an ASP Com object. You can call this from ASP.Net via COM interop. Longer term we will be looking at providing more pure ASP.Net support.
OK Thanks for that update. All understood. Keep up the good work, and get there as quick as you can. AFAIAK you can forget D8. D9 is the way to go. Interop is not such a good sugestion though. Just do it as quick as you can, and Il wait around for it. RB has been too good for me over the years to abandon now.
