Canvas does not allow drawing - after install Windows XP2 SP2

edited September 2004 in General

I know its my fault for installing the SP2 but what was once a working
report builder is now generating the error "Canvas does not allow drawing"

In the generic End User Reporting Tool this occurs in the Design View when
editing the capion of a label, or setting up a new report. Could SP2 have
introduced some new form of security feature which I need to disable?

Advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would try the latest versoin of RB (7.04) demo and see if the problem
    persists.

    Hi Ed

Is there an "end user" 7.04 demo available ? I can not find one on the web
site, all I can find is the full Report Builder 7.04 demo and I am a little
unsure about removing my working 6.03 to load a demo up that I may then have
    to back out.

    Thanks

    there is today :-)

    I will remove it shortly.

    have

RBuilder installs into the \Borland\Delphi#\RBuilder directory so you are
pretty safe--but that's easy for me to say... I only giving you the same
    advice I believe DM will.

As Ed suggested, try download a trial of RB 7.04 and perform the same test.

This error message indicates that no valid printer handle and printer canvas
can be found. It may be that you need to re-install or update the printer
    drivers.

    Hi Nard

Thanks for the suggestion - my laptop (as it has been for the last 18
months) had a default printer which is my office printer, as I was working
at home the printer could not be found. When I changed the printer to be
one that was available from home then the error goes away.

Obviously some new setting in SP2 prevents Report Builder collecting
information that was previously availabe to it pre SP2.
