RichtText / system variable: Access violation.

edited February 2005 in General
Hi,

we are usnig RB 9.01 and have problems with changing system variable and
with using RichText in our reports. In an other thread I found no answer
for the problem with system variable, but this problem exists.
Also exists the problem with RichText. Reports made with an earlier
version of RB cannot be opened to design and in the "new" reports occurs
an error when we put a DBRichText on it and assing a db-field.

In all causes there is an access violation by address 004043B7.

OS: WinXP Pro.

Best regards,
Dmitri

    Hi Dmitri,

If possible, will you please send a copy of one of the templates created
with an earlier version of RB so I can test this behavior on my machine?
Send the files in .zip format to support@digital-metaphors.com.

    Hi Nico,

the reason is not the report created with an earlier version.

A more detailed description of this problem:

    1) a report having a RichText- or DBRichtText-component:
    - can be opened and designed at design-time
    - cannot be opened to design at run-time because of access violation by
    address 004043B7
    - there is _no_ difference between a report created with an earlier
version and a report created with the last version.

    2) a report without a RichText- or DBRichtText-component:
    - can be opened and designed at design-time
    - can be opened and designed at run-time
    - when I put DBRichtText-component on the report and assign a
pipeline-field to this component, I get an access violation by address
004043B7. After that I cannot do anything with this report anymore.
    - when I try to open this report again (the DBRichtText-component is now
on this report!!) the behavior is the same as in point 1)

The problem seems to be the DBRichText-component / assinging a
    pipeline-field to it.

I hope that helps a bit.

    Best regards,
    Dmitri

    Hi Nico,

I'm using Delphi 7 and RB 9.01 with patch for the bug in display-format.

I thought first the Intel-P4 about 2,6 GHz (Hyperthreading) is the
reason (we had problems with JVCL-suite), but our other employee has AMD
in his machine and he has the problems with RichText and chnging system
    variable too...

    Hi Dmitri,

There is another patch you might try that fixes some RichText issues. Send
an email to support@digital-metaphors.com for this patch. As for the
SystemVariable problems you are experiencing. I am still unable to recreate
any errors using this component. Have you tried re-installing
    ReportBuilder?
