Upgrade from v6 to v9

edited March 2005 in General
We are still using Delphi 6 with RB 6.03 Enterprise. Since we allow the
users of our applications to create template files to design their forms, I
am concerned about their update process. When we upgraded to RB6, our users
had to open each template and save it to convert it to the new format. Is
this still to process to upgrade to RB9?

Thanks,
Perry

    Hi Perry,

When your users load a template created in RB 6 in RB 9, ReportBuilder will
automatically update the template to the RB 9 format before generating the
report. This conversion process will not be known to your users but you
should back up all your current templates because if for some reason you
decided to revert back to RB 6, the RB 9 templates will display an error.

I would suggest downloading the trial version of RB 9.02 and testing a
couple copies of your existing templates with it to see if it will work for
    your needs.

I load the template for them in FormActivate. In the last RB version
upgrade I did, the user had to click a RB generated OK dialog each time the
report printed until they called up the template in the designer and resaved
it. Does this still happen and if so, is there some way I can tell in the
    OnLoadEnd event?

    Hi Perry,

No, that dialog does not appear any more. You should be good to go.
