Kylix support at runtime

edited August 2005 in General
I know that ReportBuilder doesn't natively support Kylix, but is it
possible that the non-visual stuff will compile under Kylix? For
instance, if we run a middleware server compiled under Kylix (developed
under Win32 though), would ReportBuilder even be capable of compiling
for runtime only? I'm figuring not, but thought I'd ask. Thanks in
advance!

Sounds good in theory, but in practice porting a large complex code base
such as ReportBuilder to work under a new platform is a huge undertaking.

RB Server Edition can be used to build a Win32 server that can publish
reports to web browsers clients running on other platforms such Linux,
Macintosh, etc. I don't know whether that helps address your needs or not,
but though I would mention it.

Oh I completely understand that - doing anything in a large code base is
always a huge undertaking. I was just curious because some tools
compile, but it is the designtime stuff that doesn't work in Kylix so I
    just thought I'd check.

The primary reason I was wondering was because I have a middleware built
with RemObjects that is cross platform with a Linux server serving up
services and I was considering generating RB report in it, but that is
fine. I can either generate the report on the client or run the report
service server on a windows machine. Thanks for the info!
