Reportbuilder Server, Hosting

edited September 2005 in General
Hello,

I'm looking for a reporting-tool to publish reports on the web.
Right now it seems to be a choice between :
- Rave
- MS SQL Reporting Services
- ReportBuilder

Here is the answer my hosting company gave me

"Whichever suits you is fine, as long as it compiles into your apps or runs
from your website space."

Does this mean that ReportBuilder is no option for me ?
Is it typically meant for 'Dedicated Servers' ?

(I'm looking for a report-server that kan handle up to 100 requests at the
same time)

kind regards,

Dirk Janssens.

Thanks for your interest in ReportBuilder Server Edition.

ReportBuilder Server is a multier solution that requires two applications.

    1. WebTier appication

The WebTier application is typically built using Delphi web broker. RB
Server Edition includes examples of building an ISAPI, ASP, or Apache
application. The web tier acts a middle tier between the web browser and the
    report server.

    2. ReportServer application

The report server application is responsible for generating the reports. The
Report Server application can either run on the same machine as the web tier
application or can run a separate machine. The report server app is
typically deployed to run within the context of a windows service. It can
however run as a standard windows application as well. Ask your web host
whether either of these is allowed.

    Hi Nard,

    Theire response was :
"Neither of these is possible in a shared hosting environment I'm afraid"

Is it so that most users of Report Server have a dedicated server, or do you
know any providers/hosting companies that do allow this in 'shared hosting
    environments' ?

    kind regards,

    Dirk Janssens.
