Gaps in Vertical Lines

edited September 2005 in General
Hi All:

I've got RB 6 and I'm trying to generate an invoice to emulate a printed
form. The form (or at least the relevant part of it) has seven columns in
the body, separated by vertical lines. Although at some point this may
change I'm not looking to do anything fancy, just to emulate the vertical
separator lines for as long as there is detail to be printed.

Since I have to break on a few groups in the body I've created a sub-report
within the Detail band of the main report. There is NOTHING else in the
Detail band of the Main report. In the Detail band of the sub-report and in
each of the two sub Group Footers I've placed vertical lines at exactly the
same position across the page. The bands (including the Detail band in the
Main report) are set at the same fixed height of 0.2, the fields within each
band are set at that height and the vertical lines are set to use the Parent
Height. When I print the report there are (seemingly) random lines at which
the vertical lines "break"; i.e. there are small gaps between the bottom of
one and the top of the other. This occurs both on screen preview and
printing. The breaks occur across the entire line and there doesn't seem to
be any pattern to them; for example they don't occur only when one
particular group breaks. I've tried setting the vertical lines to stretch
with parent, etc. No joy.

I've SEEN RB reports with continuous vertical lines running down the page
and in my searches I've seen a lot about drawing. Do I HAVE to get into
drawing on the canvas to get this done? If I have to I will but I was hoping
modest needs would demand only modest solutions. :)

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

    Hi Norman,

Try placing full page sized lines inside the PageStyle. The PageStyle will
draw everything inside it staticly behind the report information. Access
the PageStyle by selecting Report | Page Style option from the Designer main
    menu.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll need to investigate Page Styles.
