Left To Right Traversal question

edited October 2005 in General
Hi,

I am using Report Builder Version 9.03 and Delphi 7.

I have a report with 2 columns that is set up using Left To Right Traversal
(printing labels). I have an option to group on a column in my dataset.
If I group on that column and the data from a group ends in Column1, I get
what appears to be a "Start New Column" behavior. Column 2 will be blank.
Column1 on the next line will be blank and then the next group starts in
Column 2. I do not have "Start New Column" checked as that creates page
breaks on the group. Also if I am not using Groups then I do not get this
behavior.

Example:

Column 1 Column 2
------------- --------------
Group 1 Group 1
Group 1
Group 2
Group 2 Group 2
Group 3 Group 3
Group 3
Group 4
Group 4

If I use a Top To Bottom Traversal I do not get this behavior. I just
noticed this with version 9.03. I was previously using version 6.03 and
this did not happen.

Is this the proper behavior for Left-To-Right Traversal? If so do you have
any suggestions? I would like to continue using Left-To-Right and not get
the blanks as that wastes labels.

Thanks for your help.

    Hi Bob,

I do not know of any major changes with the Left to Right traversal behavior
between RB 6.03 and RB 9.03 however there may have been something added to
cause this. If possible, please send a small example of this behavior that
I can run on my machine in .zip format to support@digital-metaphors.com and
I'll take a look at it for you.
