Still having reports fail on customer's computers
Hi All,
I have an ongoing issue with reports failing on a customer's
computers. I can't duplicate the issue on my machines. The reports'
NoDataBehavior is set to ndBlankReport, but the report is displaying
as a blank page with no headers or title stuff. This indicates to me
that the report isn't failing due to a lack of data.
The strange thing is that this application has 2 reports; one prints
fine, the other fails with no errors. Of course, both reports work
fine on my machines.
Is it possible that the customer is running some sort of software that
somehow interferers with Report Builder? Could he be running out of
some sort of Windows resource (file handles, etc.)?
What else can I look for?

1. Try to find out the differences between your customer's setup and yours.
There has to be something different going on with their machine that is
causing this behavior. Are their regional settings the same? Which OS are
they using? Do they have a printer installed? What kind of printer?
2. If you would like you can send an example that you know fails on your
customer's machine to me and I can test it here. From past experiences
however, it will probably work here as well. That's just the way these
things go .

What version of Delphi are you using? Are you building a single EXE or with
runtime packages?

Are your customers able to successfully run the report without receiving
these errors? What items have you changed/added in your custom preview?
You may try sending them a version that uses the original preview and see if
the problem still exists.

Sorry, I'm sort of taking shots in the dark here. Please understand that it
is virtually impossible for us to provide help with an unknown problem if we
are unable to recreate it on our machines. The only real way to deal with
an issue such as this one is to begin simplifying your application until the
unwanted behavior dissapears. This way you can isolate the problem.
In your first post you mention that the report with problems fails with no
errors, however in your previous post you show a list of errors your
customer is getting. I am curious where and how these errors are surfacing.
Which version of ReportBuilder are you using? Again, if you send an example
of the report in question, I am more than willing to try to run it on my
machine(s) here.

The easiest way would be to send a smaller version of your app with limited
data and components other than native Delphi and ReportBuilder.
