PostNet Barcode Question
I see in your report writer, that we can use the post-net barcode. Has
this been approved for use by the United States Post Office? I was
unable to find you listed in the POSTNET Barcode Configuration Vendor
List. One of our clients took a report with this barcode included, and
the personnel there told him it was not acceptable.

Interesting. I do not know how many customers have used PostNet, but I do
know that we have had customers use the PostNet symbology successfully and
there are no known issues with it (not until your post anyway).
The RB barcode components originated as a stand alone barcode component that
we acquired from another company and debuted in RB 3.5 which we released
around 98/99. The original developer of the component was very much an
expert in barcodes and had tested the barcode output with a variety of
barcode readers. He was disciplined about following the specifications for
each symbology.
Did the client specify why it was not accepted?

I found some information on Wikipedia. Towards the bottom is list the
different lengths of PostNet (ie. zip, zip+4, etc) that the Post Office has
used over time. There is a mention of a zip+4+delivery point type of
encoding. Looks like they have been evolving over time. Perhaps the user did
not specify the delivery point in the data to encode (just a guess.

This page contains information about the delivery point. At the bottom it
says, "However, the normal practice in the U.S. is to assign each post
office box its own ZIP+4 code; in such cases, the delivery point is
redundant."

be more in depth (actually somebody else, I am the go-between). Do you
know if the bar code was certified? What we are finding in the PS Form
109 of July 2005 is that "Customers that print bar codes on special
services forms/labels must register with the USPS."
See my answer to your post about "Printing BarCode Certification"
